THE VINEYARD BIBLE INSTITUTE
The Vineyard Bible Institute is an Internet (email) based, distance education program which was launched early in 2000.
click here for Vineyard Bible Institute websiteThe vision is to provide training, utilizing the best teaching materials available in the Vineyard movement. The headquarters of the VBI is in Cape Town, South Africa, and each potential student is required to register at a cost of approximately 25 US dollars. There is an additional cost for those who receive the course as a photocopied manual (see below). Within the AVC (East Africa) students who have internet access may download courses after registration, or, for those who are unable to receive large files as attachments on the email, the courses are available as photocopied, bound manuals. Courses which have been studied at the Karen Vineyard, and are available as photocopied manuals, include the following:
Biblical Theory Kingdom Theory Practical Theory
Biblical Overview Kingdom of God I Natural Evangelism
Introduction to Biblical Interpretation Kingdom of God II Prophetic Evangelism
Romans   Prophetic Ministry
Hebrews
Johannine Writings
Revelation
Spiritual Spider Web
At the end of the course, the student is required to complete an assignment, which is marked, via the email, in South Africa. The assignment consists of short one-word answer type questions, or multiple-choice type questions. This is known as the discipleship level. Students who pass their assignment (50% or more), will receive a certificate.
On passing the discipleship level, students may continue to the academic level which involves payment of a further fee, and the writing of an essay-type question. Successful completion can result in the course being credited towards a university degree.
Help is offered to students who are unable to send their assignments via email: they are able to send handwritten assignments to Karen Vineyard to be typed and sent to South Africa.
Currently at the Karen Vineyard church, Nairobi, Kenya, there are ongoing VBI courses being studied at a rate of 2 - 3 a year. These courses are run as group studies with a weekly meeting. The Karen Vineyard church runs morning/afternoon/evening sessions, which include teaching and discussion, and have found these the most successful and enjoyable way of studying. (See column at the right for any courses being studied this way at the moment.

Back to the Kingdom!

In 2002  the first VBI course was run in Nairobi. The same course, the first part of a series on the Kingdom of God, is again being studied by two groups - exactly five years after that first course.

Click here to find out more about this course, and why it is so important to the Vineyard movement.

Group study

From time to time, VBI courses are made available at Karen Vineyard Church.

We are currently offering the first part of the Kingdom of God studies, in two groups on Thursdays (morning and lunchtime).

Contact the office for more information and to join a course.
