MISSION STATEMENT
- WHAT WE BELIEVE
Statement of Faith
We believe in the one and triune God, who exists in three Persons -
the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. (Matt28:9)
We believe in the full humanity and deity of our Lord Jesus Christ in
His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His substitutionary atonement
and His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to heaven and in His personal
return in power and glory. (John 1:14-18; 2 Corinthians 5:21)
We believe in the Holy Spirit, the third person of the Trinity, who
amongst His various ministries, regenerates, sanctifies, distributes
gifts, guides and empowers us.
(1 Corinthians 12:4-17; Galatians 5:16-23; Titus 3:5)
We believe all men and women are sinners and can only be justified by
God's grace through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. (Ephesians 2:1-10)
We believe in the resurrection of
all men and women to a final judgment, eternal blessing for the righteous
and eternal punishment for the wicked. (Matthew 25:31-46)

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
We believe God has called us to be an agency of the Kingdom of God to
our communities. In this regard, we are to be a particular kind of church,
worshipping God and expressing His mercy in a way that reaches the people
of our generation. We aim to express these Vineyard values through the
lives of our people and our corporate church life in keeping with these
priorities:
1. Worship that is intimate, accessible and Spirit-led
2. Fellowship that is relaxed and real as opposed to superficial and
"religious"
3. Evangelism
4. and Social concern which is strategic
in that it is linked to discipleship and empowers the poor.
5. Training and equipping in the belief that all God's people have a
part in ministry.
6. The church as a healing environment that expresses the coming of
the Kingdom of God Mission and church planting wherever God leads and
empowers.
Our purpose is best expressed in our mission statement: "Building
distinctively to see our communities transformed by the Good News of
the Kingdom."
In a context where there is a lot of church planting and evangelism,
we lay emphasis on building the church, as against simply planting.
We are not referring to building in the material sense, but see this
important concept with regard to the local church being built into something
solid and effective to fulfill God's purposes. Jesus speaks of building
the church and yet the New Testament also speaks of our partnership
with Him in this process (see Matthew 16:18;1Corinthians 3:10,11). We
recognize His initiative and simply seek to follow Him where He leads
us and where He gives us meaningful relationship. Hence we want to see
the spontaneous momentum of the Holy Spirit and avoid an approach that
is controlling. At the same time, we want to build with integrity and
remain faithful to building something that resembles what we have been
called to.
Integral to progress is the development of an indigenous team of leaders
who will oversee the Vineyard ministry.
