PARTNERSHIPS
Due to the scope of opportunities that has opened up and the enormity
of the task, mission partnerships play a crucial role in the overall
growth and development of the Vineyard in East and Central Africa.
To see real benefit in the work, most partners have committed themselves
to a 10-year involvement in order to make a meaningful contribution,
and then they withdraw, thereby ensuring the indigenous character of
the churches and its leadership.
Their contribution is mainly in the area of teaching and training, equipping
local leaders and members for fruitful ministry in a church planting
movement that is truly African and yet expresses Vineyard values and
practices contextually in a number of local cultures.
Financial involvement is important due to the poverty and scarcity of
resources. In the immediate sense there is an obvious place for mercy
and generosity; however it is also necessary that giving is strategic
and empowering and that it does not create unhealthy dependency.
It is our aim to help facilitate meaningful ministry opportunities for
partners as well as connection with churches, so that ongoing relationships
are characterized by partner involvement.
United States of America
Bubba Justice of the Inverness Vineyard in Birmingham Alabama played
a key and pivotal role in initiating and developing the US partnership
in the region. This has subsequently developed to a point where different
pastors play a key coordinating role in encouraging meaningful involvement
in each of the following nations.
United Kingdom - Rick Williams of the Riverside Vineyard in London.
Ireland - Alasdair Verschoyle
Canada - Larry Levy of Halifax Vineyard
Switzerland - Mark Moser
South Africa - Costa Mitchell
